I think WORLDS should be held in different locations each year (East Coast, West Coast, and Somewhere in the middle-Texas?)
I think it is a disadvantage for West coast teams to adjust to the time zone change, and West Coast teams have a higher travel expense. As well, I'm sure the East coast teams can get more people to go and watch their teams because it's cheaper for them to travel.
Since most people on here are from California, I'm sure you would agree. What can be done to get that changed or do you think it would never get changed? And what about the International teams, I wonder how many teams would actually travel to WORLDS if it were in another country?
I think that would be a great idea. But I don't know of anyplace big enough that could handle that many teams and parent housing other than DisneyWorld.
Price wise your probably right about that. There are other venues like LA but the expense would most likley go up. I for one agree it would probably take on more popularity nationally if done at different places who knows maybe oneday sigh!!
Money wise, Vegas might be the better location for the west coast. I imagine the fees for renting the venue, hiring the staff and all the other items would be cheaper.
Here's another point to think about when changing the location:
If the location stays in Florida, an At Large bid for a team on the East Coast is significantly less than an At Large bid for a team on the West Coast.
I am for changing locations, although I must admit, I LOVE Expedition Everest at D-World.

LOL , Disney world is fun for sure I think to get more world wide exposure moving it would be for the sports best interests. But hey as for me personally I dont care where it is IM GOIN!
I WOULD LOVE TO GO ONCE..... JUST ONCE. The only time we traveled to Disney World was with South Bay Elite when Em was 7. Yikes.....
It was fun even though I think Nikki had quite enough of Em, Nicole, Sarah and Jennifer in the AJOINING room. All 7 or so years old, they kept Nikki on her TOES.

If Worlds is truely a World Championships wouldn't it make sense to, at some point, have the competition at different locations all over the world?
This would make for a truely even playing field. If you throw the Top 10 teams into a different country they are all having to deal with jet lag, time changes, language barriers, food, etc.
I'd like to see Worlds handled like all other World Championships- have several cities bid on hosting the competition and the IASF deciding on one.
Being from CA, FL is great....but like Disneyland in Anaheim, after a few years, it just gets old.
It is my understanding (although I haven't heard anything in a while) that the original plan was for Worlds to stay at Disney World for the first few years and get it's balance. Then, it would be moved around the four parks (not counting Hong Kong added later). So one year it would be Orlando, then Anaheim, then Tokyo, then Paris.
Like I said, I haven't heard anything on this in a long time. But the original materials that USASF sent out had the first competition scheduled for Atlanta. Disney put on a big push to get the business and got it moved. That first year, crowding wasn't an issue since there were only 14 teams. And since it was on a soundstage in MGM, they limited the attendance to 500 people.
Wherever it goes, the USASF now needs to realize that there are LOTS of people that are coming strictly as spectators without any connection to the competing gyms. They need to improve the spectator experience with more information available on the website. Maybe have a pdf "fan guide" like other big time events produce with maps, spectator pricing, etc.
I think what ACE DAD said about them possibly doing the comp at the other Disney sites would be a great start and I hope they do it at least if anything to get the ball rolling.
