2007~2008 compeititons

 Comments anyone --

I been collecting schedule information for our boss lady and I am finding that everything is happening in FEB on the same weekends.

Cheersport Nationals and American Showcase, NCA  (same weekend 2/15)
USA nationals, JAMZ, and King of the Bleachers (same weekend 2/24)

added: NCA from Tamara.

WOW - Jamz went back to February! I liked having it in March for the past 2 years. I wonder if WORLDS bids are effecting the scheduling for Nationals? It's going to push the entire All-Star schedule back by a month for many gyms.

Flying to Atlanta and driving to Vegas in one month??? Are they TRYING to make cheer more expensive so that we CAN'T do both??? That was a pretty dumb move.....

When is NCA?

Or better yet, who out there has some time to post the major competitions for the upcoming season? I have a feeling there will be lots of conflicts.

Looks like NCA will stay on the same weekend as CheerSport. From the varsity website:

NCA All-Star National Championship
Dallas, TX
February 16 17, 2008

NO #$%^*&()@@#$ WAY!!!!!! NOT AGAIN!

I can't believe it! So what will be the competition that the majority of all the top gyms will go to? Cheersport and NCA used to be a great place to see all of them in one place before Worlds.

(oops...forgive my french....)

When everyday peeps first figured out that NCA & Cheersport were going to be on the same weekend this year, more knowledgeable peeps (at least more knowledgeable for CheerXS) said more than likely it will be that way for a few years because when huge events such as these sign up at a location they sign a deal for at least three years.

edited:  Oh! and WN, of course your symbolling is forgiven.  It's expected that those of you that have been to either or both of these would be taken aback.  :)

I know what you mean -- We usually go to NDA 3/1/2008 (florida) -- so do we do usa, or king of the bleachers. I'm bummed because I have talked so much about JAMZ, she wanted to go to JAMZ this year.

There is no way we can go to vegas and then turn around and leave for florida 3 days later...

Althought I heard a rumor that American Grand is not requiring the package deal this year.... and Jamfest is doing a nationals in Vegas as well (12/8/2007). Jamfest still has their Los Angeles dates for the end of March 2008 -- so that might be a pretty big competion next year.

I heard about jamfest 12/8/07 in las vegas. That should prove to be an interesting turnout

NCA had all the top teams from Worlds attend; clearly it was the one with the toughest competition.  So it would depend on your gym's goals regarding which one to attend... go against the best in the World, or go where your team might have a better chance.

I think where everyone ends up depends on who's going to what comp and where the particular Gym might think they have the best chance to receive a paid bid not so much about going for the challenge against other worlds challengers at least to me that what it seems like lately. I don't know seems like I'm babbling here Lol

That Jamfest is not a natioanls, but a one day regional type of an event .

reguarding Jamfest:  I think it was originally a 1 day "mega jam", but if you look at their site, they have made it a 2-day and posted it under the "nationals" section.

But, information is only as good as the website --  I don't talk to the actual reps.

GSSA has their schedule posted.  It doesn't say that World Bids will be given at the San Jose Comp.  The first year they gave bids, it was down south.  But the last 2 years it's been in San Jose.  Does anyone know for sure if they keep it in San Jose again next year?  If not, it could potentially be the same weekend as cheersport, american showcase, & nca.  Now that would be interesting !!

  • November 10 - CSU Icardo Center - Bakersfield
  • November 17 or 18 - Bren Event Center - Irvine
  • December 8 - Sacramento Convention Center - Sacramento
  • February 2 - Dance Xtravaganza - Marsee Auditorium - Los Angeles
  • February 10 or 17 - Cox Arena - San Diego
  • March 1-2 - San Jose Convention Center - San Jose
  • March 28-29 - (Aloha International Spirit Championships) Waikiki Shell - Honolulu, HI

Thought I would resurrect this thread --
Anyone have any thoughts on the UPA national competition in Minnesota? What has anyone heard, good bad and/or ugly?
