ooooo Cancun - I wanna go!!!

It's interesting that a competition is being held outside the US for the "non-international" bids. I wonder if any US teams are going.

Did a bit more digging into Spirit Cheer's website and found information on how they will distribute bids. Still no schedule

WORLDS BID WINNERS SELECTED
  1. Spring Break Championships ( Cancun, Mexico )
    • 1 Full Paid Bid
    • 3 At Large Bids
    • Bids will be awarded to International teams only. Bids will not be awarded to teams originating from the United States.

So we could have 3 International teams in the Senior division. I think that is great!

Well now, that's interesting. Seems this company believes that US teams should not be in the international division.

Now Tamara, don't be too harsh on them. They had another competition earlier in Florida and they gave bids away to US teams. So I think this one was set specifically for the international community. USASF needs to draw those international teams and competition companies to make this a true Worlds competition.

I wasn't being harsh at all, I truly believe it's interesting.  I've heard both sides to the US in the international division debate, and I think both sides makes sense.  I was interested (I actually looked interested up in the thesaurus and all I got was words that had too much emotion behind them: absorbed, enticed, obsessed, etc.) in actually having a different level of opinion, that of a competition company.  I looked up their webpage.  Yes, they gave one partial and two at-large bids at another competition, but none of them were in the international division.

This info adds another question for me.  I thought a competition company had to choose one competition to pass out bids.  The rule does state "..their designated national competition...", so I guess if company runs a competition outside the US they get to hand out more bids.

Hey WN, is this a strictly cheer competition, or can we try out your "removing the dance costumes from the luggage and adding ourselves" plan?

I don't have the energy to check to see if they have dance competing...I'm warn out with all the cheer stuff. I can tell it is end of March. When they talk about March Madness I don't think of basketball. I think of all those cheer bids I have to (ok, want to) keep up with.

But I think I would rather find a way to get to Vegas this weekend. I can't believe I'm missing the wedding. Bums me out. Kris was my cheer mentor and I learned so much from her when my daughter first started.

I went to the website to see if they had any results for the International bids and I read some fine print that said the competition was cancelled. How did I miss that? Anyway here is the statement on their website. Too bad, as I was hoping to see some more true international teams at worlds this year.

Spring Break Championships

Due to issues surrounding the completion of our host hotel the Hyatt Regency, and the concern over transportation issues surrounding our customers in Cancun by moving to another hotel, Spirit Cheer has made a decision to cancel this year's Spring Break Championships. If you should have any questions in regards to this please contact our office directly.
