Do you think they are giving out 2 many bids? It seems like worlds is less special this year because there are so many opportunities to win a bid. Then, if you go to a compeititon and your other 3 competitors already have a bid, you automatically get one. What do you think about this?
This is an interesting topic, because I have been thinking a lot about this for a while. Does anyone remember back in the day where recieving a bid to usa or uca nationals was really good?? I do! Now, you basically get a bid to those nationals just for showing up at one of their regionals. I think that is going to happen to worlds. Eventually worlds will turn into an everyday national because there are so many cheer companies that want to be represented. They want to be the ones who have the biggest nationals and give out the most bids! Its unfortuante that it will probably happen that way, because I truely enjoy seeing "the best of the best" at one competition. Just my opininon =)
i agree with cheerwatcher..but i still think its a big deal to recieve 1...they dont nessicarily give bids to the next person in line if everybody else already has 1...you have to score high enough. trust me. i know from personal experience lol legend didnt get 1 at cheersport this past weekend because we were 8 points too low. even though we ended up in 6th place...it techniqually didnt matter because in small sr they started giving them out in 7th. it seemed like at cheersport they were just handing em out like candy..but i guess those teams scores were actually high enough...in reality, teams are just catching up to the standards of what used to be really hard to achieve and that is of course reaching a score high enough to get a bid.
and youre still going to see the best of the best at worlds because teams that recieve an at large bid still have to go through preliminary rounds at worlds..and if they arent good enough to pass through saturday then you wont have to worry about seeing them on sunday..right? and only THE BEST recieve paid bids and automatically advance to finals. sooo there ya go..thats my opinion.
But still, to get 7th place at a comp and still get a worlds bid? doesn't make sense. then they go and brag about it like it is something special....you JUST GOT beat by 6 other teams....anyone else feel this way?
Right, it does seem strange to win a bid to Worlds coming in 7th. Also, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a certain percent of teams pass through preliminary rounds (guaranteed) regardless of how they score? I remember that was a hot topic on either this message board or another not too long ago. If I recall they have already determined upfront which percent of teams will pass through, regardless of their performances, and it's not a small number. You would think they would base it on scores.
But no matter... by the end of the weekend the top teams in each division have most definitely earned their title.
I believe USASF states that a "minimum" of 50% of the teams will pass through to finals. Read that again..."minimum". Doesn't matter what you score. If you have 10 teams in prelims and the top 4 teams score 500 and the 5th team scores 200, that 5th team will still go to finals because they state that a "MINIMUM" of 50% will proceed to finals.
Something has to change...

ya i get what u guys are saying about comming in 7th and still getting a bid..it totally sounded strange to me. i even had to double check with a teammate to make sure i heard things correctly. but those teams were AMAZING haha it was inevitable for it to happen. but i definately agree with what yall are saying
and wow i didnt know that a certain percentage moved on. i thought it was based on score haha guess i was wrong. but ya like previously said by Abbybythebay...at the end of the day only the best recieves the gold anyways.
