Cheer Poem

Stole this from a friend just thought I would share it with all my fellow cheer lovers!

Ask any cheerleader,
most of us will tell you WE hate it,
but our lives wouldn't be anything without it.
It's what WE live for.
WE live for the trips to the airport, plane rides, parties,
the undefined amount of tape, stretching & hairspray.
The disgusting amounts of glitter & the unexplainable need for inhalers.
WE live for the way they have stupid rituals that are silly but always manage to push us into first place.
WE live for marking the routine countless times.
WE live for sound effects, old fashioned songs being remixed, sayings & rhyming cheers.
WE live for walking past another team and seeing the fear in their eyes.
WE live for knowing we're the best in the nation.
WE live for the competition, friends, pratices, memories, pain & the strangers who became a family.
Even with the overload of lipstick & the rush of nervousness,

WE live for it.

It's who WE are.

ARE ALL STAR CHEERLEADERS!

Emily's response when I read it to her..... "Oh that's SO true!"

I wrote these myself, in Em's yearly cheer scrapbook... if you are making one too, please feel free to copy any part of it if you wish. The second part was for a page that I made of Em and all of her hard work.

All Star Cheerleading:

A year of hard work, injuries, sweat, blood, dedication and perseverance. Days you want to give your all but everyone seems to be lacking. Days you just don't feel like practicing but everyone pushes you to try harder. Tumbling thru strains, bruises and colds. Stunting whle you are not sure you trust the poeple below you and doing it anyway. Building friendships even though you are new and sometimes unsure if these are the people that you want to sepnd every single day with...

But in the end, you find that these people are just like you and have the same goal. You find your closest friends and learn to deal with the difficult situations. You learn to lose before you learn that youare a bigger winner than any competition can tell you that you are. Cheerleading makes you dig down deep and fine courage you didn't even know was there. And when you think you're done, you realize you've only just begun....

A true cheerleader never every quits. They can't. Cheerleading becomes a part of your soul and it won't let you go. And when you think you can't go on, your team pulls you through. And you know that they will do it again, and again. And you will do the same for each and every one of them. No matter what.

WHAT THE JUDGES DONT SEE:
The judges don't see you, they see the entire team. They are looking for faults and imperfections. But what they don't know is you couldn't be any more perfect if they had designed you themselves. You are strong and make people feel happy to be aroud you. You work hard and never let your teammates and family down. You put hours into your cheerleading, not only in the gym but in school and your community, so you can be a part of this team.

You have so many friends from other teams. And these people like you because you are kind and trustworthy. Your teachers and instructors like you because you always put your best foot forward and they know they can expect the most from you and you won't back down. So, no matter what place the judges decide you and your teammates deserve that day... you've already won in life. And that is the most important thing you can imagine and accomplish.

After I read aloud, my youngest daughter (who does cheer) said "Awww, I love it" and my oldest said "That poem almost makes me want to cheer."  :)
