Small Junior Level 3 (this one I'm a little confused about, there was only one team listed on the schedule, but two teams announced)
Side Show - I totally agree! I have never really seen UCF before - I guess they are a Nor Cal Team - ELk GROVE? Anyway, their Senior team was awesome. I really enjoyed their mini team too.. they had the ears - they were so cute but really good too.
All in all in was a great competition. Some of the level 4 teams were diappointing they were dropping stunts like crazy.
I really like Athletic Championships, the seating, the flow, the way awards are handled.
haha i sooo agree. athletic Championships have always been my favorite competitions..best arenas, best food (smoothies=yum), best action shots, best champion sweatshirts ;), best teams...duhhh!great job to everyone out there this weekend!! northern cali, steppin it up. :D

Congrats to the winners and grand champions! I was also impressed with UCF, they did great! I thought Airborne and NCE looked awesome. Who is UA Glamour? I had never heard of them. They did great (Grand Champs in level 2 I believe)? I agree about the level 4 teams, I don't think I saw one clean routine from any of them. I have to admit I was surprised at the final standings for the small senior 4 division. Most teams didn't move much in placement, but they dropped Cheer Xplosion from 2nd place (day 1) down to 6th place for day 2, and I felt they deserved a higher placement. They messed up their final stunt, but everything else looked clean today. But maybe that's just me, anyone else see it? Roseville deserved first, they were probably the cleanest (no major falls that I recall). Going into day 2 I had guessed all the placements (after seeing the routines) except that one division.
I enjoyed watching the Pyramid lower level teams that placed first -- well deserved! I was very moved by the performance by Motions (sr coed level 5) on Saturday when their music gave out and they continued flawlessly. The most impressive performance I had seen all weekend.
I enjoyed Athletic Championships as a whole -- they kept the awards moving along nicely (very organized), and the venue offered a nice selection of food. The negatives -- no videotaping (which will ALWAYS be a negative in my book) and no schedules to pass out for day 2 (you gotta be kidding me)! Instead they posted a copy on some pole we all had to find. My neck still hurts jotting down the schedule for today as I had a few different gyms I was there to see. I don't know any two day events that don't give you an up-to-date schedule for that 2nd day. They should have at least posted it on their website so we could download and print this morning.
Other than that, a fun and entertaining weekend. On to the next...!
Wow, what an amazing weekend! It was long but we had a blast. I agree with everyone about the senior level 4 division. That was crazy, AP totally bombed saturday, and had a total comeback cinderella story today! I couldnt believe that CX dropped all the way down to sixth place. Yeah they messed up in there pyramid at the end, dropping both main flyers, but to go from 2nd to 6th was a drastic change. But, seriously, did anyone really notice rosevilles teams? They walked away with so many first places!! I was so jealous!
BTW, all cheerleaders please read: When your team doesnt get first place, (i know its hard) but please try to genuinly be happy. Nothing could be more horrible then a team who got 2nd to not even clap for themselves. I saw several teams just sit there and NO one wanted to get up and get their trophey!! I dont care if we get 19th and of 4th place, I would make sure the girls all were proud of themselves. I saw this a lot in the level 4 and 5 teams.
Everyone has a bad day, or a bad comp. But I was proud for all of you guys, even if i dont really know you!
We were very proud of all of our teams yesterday - well the whole weekend
Our seniors are a great group of girls who work hard in the gym everyday. GRAND CHAMPS!!
Our coaches are amazing and it is apparent that they truly care for all of the girls.
OUr parents are a wonderful family who all support each other.
Our little mini team is so cute, they did great as well.. man I am looking forward to wathcing these girls grow, imagine them at the senior level. These are the same girls who won grand champ last year at this event!! It was so cute! The they did awesome this year as well.
We may be a smaller/newer gym but we have such a good group of coaches, girls and parents and I think it is enough to prove that sometimes, size doesn't matter
Athletic Championships was great! All the teams did great and everyone was so supportive and nice to each other.
My only problem was the programs. You could only buy them at admissions, except they didn't offer them to you at admissions. So, I had to wait in that LONG line twice. When I FINALLY got a program (with schedule) I was sad to see that there wasn't much to it. Last year they took pictures of all the winning teams and said that they would be in next year's program. Well, they had the teams listed.. no pictures though. This made me sad because our little minis took Grand Champ last year and their picture with that big trophy was too cute.
How old is your gym? (UCF) I thought you guys had been around for a while. But i could be totally incorrect. We have a young lady who cheers with your gym and she's been with us for a few years now.... maybe I am thinking of another gym????

I tried to find it on the Athletic Championships website, but all I found was three pictures they posted. However, I did find the official results (with scores).
Edited: AirborneMom posted while I was typing, I'm glad someone remembered. Here's their website.
I had a question for UCF too, because I might be thinking of another gym as well. Is your Senior Level 3 team the one who started off level 3 at Jamz Stockton, then went up to level 4? Obviously level 3 is working out great for you, but I thought you did well as level 4 too (thought you placed well but I can't remember what competition it was). Will you be staying at 3 the rest of the season? Great job this past weekend.
I just wanted to say congratulations to all the teams that competed this weekend! Everyone did a great job!
But I mainly want to post about something I saw this weekend that completely changed the way I see the Cheergyms.com program. On Sunday, when our co-ed kids (NCE-Nemesis) went on to perform, I noticed the EVENT STAFF "pushing everyone back behind the line" (like how they all do at every competition). It's when I noticed: · one of the kids from 720 sitting up front with a Nor Cal Hebe (youth kid) on her lap. It really made me think "that's really nice... Hayley won't have to move, and she'll get to see coed without jumping up and down trying to catch a glimpse." · Next thing I noticed while waiting for coed to take the floor, another coach and I were surrounded by Pyramids kids. Sitting beside them, I heard the "NOR CAL xx ELITE" chant getting louder. And I thought "wow, when did our kids get so loud?!" That's when I noticed that it was PYRAMIDS chanting with us. "wow, what great kids! ·Then I glanced to the right, and all of Motions Sr Coed 5 kids came running up beside Pyramids and joined in with the chant. My thought, "wow!! Even more great kids!!" ·Last thing I noticed: During the chant in the middle of coed's routine. (Nor Cal, stand back you'll see.......) The cheergyms kids were saying it with the Nor Cal family.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I saw a great deal of Sportsmanship this weekend from the cheergyms.com kids. It amazed me at first with all the negativity going back & forth on the message boards at the beginning of the season, and to see them come together and support each other is a spectacular thing to see. (Not only from a coaches point of view, but from a parent's, fan's and spectator's point of view as well.) This weekend's sportsmanship gave me a totally different outlook on the entire program.
In conclusion, I wish the Cheergyms.com program nothing but good luck the rest of the season! You guys will do just fine! Keep up all your hard work and continue to carry that great sportsmanship with you throughout the rest of the season!

Our gym is about 5 years old. This year was the year we moved into a more permanent facitlity and pruchased some great tumbling equipment. We also snagged a great tumbling coach this season as well, I think she was like a level 10 gymnast. My daughter hasn't been with UCF since the first season so perhaps your girl was around their first year?
